- Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus. Hysterectomy in HIV positive patients is an everyday occurrence as it is one of the most common surgeries performed. The indication for Hysterectomy in HIV positive patients may be due to bleeding problems, cancer, fibroid in the uterus or pain. Also prolapse i.e. descent of the uterus may also be an indication. A condition known as adenomyosis May also be responsible for pain in the uterus and may be an indication for hysterectomy.
